RIMMEL X RITA ORA | SHADES OF BLACK

RIMMEL X RITA ORA SHADES OF BLACK REVIEW
Just in time for Halloween, say hello to the new Shades Of Black collection* by Rimmel in collaboration with Rita Ora. A small but bold collection made up of gloss, polish and mascara to take you through from early Autumn to October 31st. (And the rest of the year if you're brave enough with your 'out there' looks.)

This collection collaboration includes three never before seen 'Oh My Gloss' shades which are definitely the stand out and most exciting pieces. One pure black shade named Rita's Black, a very unique purely blue shade named Moonlight, and last but certainly not least - a gorgeous dark autumnal red named Desire.

RIMMEL SHADES OF BLACK OH MY GLOSS SWATCHES
Formula wise, none of these glosses are at all sticky which is always the main concern with this type of formula, especially from the drugstore. The pigmentation is amazing in the black and red shades, however I did find the blue shade to be a total nightmare to work with. No matter how many layers of this shade I applied, it just rubbed away when I put my lips together and it would not build up and stay put. The black and red shades needed a few layers for full impact and coverage, but they didn't disappear like the blue. I used Rita's Black in this Halloween look on my Instagram here.

RIMMEL WONDER'FULLY REAL MASCARA REVIEW
The mascara in this collection is simply the original Wonder'fully Real mascara repackaged in black and apparently a more 'extreme black,' colour. I haven't tried the original so I can't comment on the blackness, but I do think this a dupe for the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara that I was using prior to testing this. It isn't quite as good, because obviously it's less than half the price of the Marc Jacobs- but if you want the same results this is for sure a cheap alternative.

This mascara really isn't for those that like a lot of length or separating, this mascara is all about the pigment and volume. It made my lashes look very thick and black but didn't add length. If you're not a fan of cakey, fat lashes this isn't for you.

RIMMEL SHADES OF BLACK NAIL POLISH HALLOWEEN
And finally we have the three shades of nail polish, my favourite being the pure matte black, again named Rita's Black. We then have Darkest Desires, a very deep dark red and Midnight Ting, a very dark deep purple verging on black.

This is the result after only one coat of the matte black shade. I love the formula of this as well as the applicator, the brush is the perfect size for application and the polish dries very quickly.
