Regretful Buying

It's horrible to admit but there's many expensive beauty items I've purchased and either hated or barely used. It makes me feel a little guilty and it's also a waste of money- which is why I've learnt to do a lot of research on products before buying, as well as swatching and prioritising what I really need/want. Here's why I didn't like these products:

1. Yves Saint Laurent Babydoll Mascara, £25.00.

  • Very dry formula
  • The bristles on the wand are super short and tough
  • Doesn't create much drama, wow factor
  • No good for a night time
  • Dries up quickly
  • Doesn't appear Jet Black
2. NARS Larger Than Life Volumising Mascara £19.50.

  • Extremely hard to wipe off, even with eye make up remover
  • After removal it clumps lashes together and leaves them feeling sticky
  • Small amount of actual product for your money
  • Cannot apply a second coat due to eyelasahes being so hard and clumpy

3. MAC pigments (£37.00 for the set I found at Christmas.)

  • Large amounts of drop-down
  • Difficult to use
  • Difficult to dispense
  • Colour fades
  • Do not blend well

4. NARS Copacabana Illuminator, £23.00.

I just didn't get this product, maybe I need to play around with it more and experiment, but I tried to use it as a highlighter and it just stuck to my foundation and made it appear cakey and dry. It didn't blend well into my base make-up.
It's such a pretty highlight and it's alright when using a tiny brush and applied to the cupids bow and under my eyebrows to give them some lift, even then it's hard to not leave harsh lines.

If you've tried any of these products let me know in the comments what you thought!

  1. I've tried the Nars highlighter and love it, I think it depends on the foundation you're wearing as I don't wear foundation, I wear CC cream which won't be as drying as a foundation so it won't stick. Such a shame you didn't like these products, I hate spending lots of money on something I never use! Great post :) xx

  2. I haven't used any of these but been eyeing up the mascaras and the nars illuminator for a while now so I'm pretty happy that I managed to read this post before I made the big splurge!

  3. I've not tried a single product on this list, but the MAC pigments sound like such a let down!

  4. I haven't used any of these but I can definitely relate, I've wasted my money on several products that didn't live up to my expectations. This is a really good idea for a post! xx

  5. This was such an interesting read, it's always fascinating to see the other side and read about the products that people didn't get along with as much!
